First Aid Kits
Laboratories, shops are required to have and maintain first aid kits in their research/teaching spaces.
What Are First Aid Kits?
A First Aid Kit is an essential collection of supplies and equipment to provide immediate medical care for common workplace injuries and sudden illnesses. Typically, it includes items like sterile gauze dressings, a roller gauze bandage, disposable sterile gloves, tweezers, scissors, antiseptic wipes, tape, a small eyewash bottle (unless your workplace has an eyewash station), adhesive band-aids, and first aid instructions.
OSHA Requirements (1910.151.b)
OSHA does not regulate First Aid Kit contents for general workplaces like laboratories and shops. However, they do require that a First Aid Kit is readily available in any given workplace and refer to ANSI as the standard for minimum Kit contents. To meet OSHA compliance, the minimum content requirements for all research/teaching spaces is to have a Class A, ANSI approved, 25-person First Aid Kit, 2021 edition.

Note: First aid kits may NOT contain any over the counter medications. please remove any pain relief medications that may come in the first aid kit you purchase. All consumable items (such as triple antibiotic and burn treatments) must be in single use packaging and will need to be replaced periodically as they expire.
